Story Behind the Song

When I was a little girl, only about 3 years old, my mother was teaching me how to pray. I said, “Dear Heavenly Father. Today I learned how to hop on one foot! Do you remember when you learned how to hop on one foot?”

I truly believed the Lord smiled upon my innocence and shared in my excitement.

I believe the Lord is mindful of each of us and smiles when we smile and grieves when we grieve and is with us always. He knows us and loves us perfectly…and infinitely. Every person on the face of this earth is His child – a child of God – who is the Father of our spirits.

Sometimes I wonder what kind of world it would be if we each internalized this truth and reflected this in our treatment of others.
