Light The World

So many wait for the light of day,
Searching for truth; who will show them the way?
As those who heed the Savior’s call,
We’ll show His love and bring light to all.

In a world where there’s darkness,
In a world with night,
We can offer His peace,
We can lead with His light
Sharing all that is good
As we teach as Christ would.
We can light the world.

So many wait for someone to care;
Maybe they wonder if God’s even there.
As those who’ve found the peace that Christ brings
We’ll be his hands at all times, in all things.

In a world where there’s suffering,
We can ease the pain.
Lift the burdens we see and
Bring hope once again.
Sharing all that is good,
As we serve as Christ would.
We can light the world.

The pure love of Christ will change darkness to light
And answer each cry and each prayer.
It heals every wound and dries every tear.
When we act in His name, it’s as if He were here.

In a world where the lonely,
Seek to find one friend.
In a world where there’s heartache,
We’ll help sorrow end.
Sharing all that is good,
As we love as Christ would.
We can light the world.

Sharing all that is good,
As we live as Christ would.
We will light the world.

Hello! Thanks for such a beautiful song. A group of women from my ward are going to sing this at the fair for an inter-faith Gospel Night. Would it be ok if I add some parts to make the song SSA?

    • faith.wagner

Or is there an SSA version that you know of already somewhere?

      • Sara Lyn Baril

No, I apologize. There is just a solo version at this time.

    • Sara Lyn Baril

That would be just fine! Thanks for asking! I hope your performance goes well! ~ Sara

    Hi Sara
Love, love this song. I was just asked to accompany two young women on Sunday and since I have no time to practice this week, I am wondering if you have a simplified version of this one (this isn’t real hard, but I certainly don’t want to detract from the beauty of the song by my playing) Just thought I’d ask. Thanks

    • Sara Lyn Baril

Hi Lorie, Thank you! I wish I did have a simplified version and I wish I had time to write it for you! Maybe I’ll make that a goal for the new year. Sorry I couldn’t help you out for this weekend. I’m sure you won’t detract anything – it will be beautiful no matter how it turns out. Whenever I find a song difficult, I skip notes. I play just the chords and leave out parts. Hope that helps.

      Thank you!

I love this song so much!! I was wondering if the perfessional recording is out yet?

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT! Excited to sing this with my seminary class this Sunday. They all love it too. You are so very talented at bringing just the right words to just the right sound. Beautiful.

Thank you Lisa! I appreciate your kind words so much.

Thank you for your beautiful music, Sara! I have gone crazy downloading all your music. I play the piano and all of my children sing. My daughter asked if I knew of any new songs; she is singing in her ward on December 24th. I am going to CA for her baby’s blessing and we will love practicing your songs! My son who is in the BYU Men’s Chorus will also be singing that day. I am preparing to sing “Was I There.” Thank you for sharing your talent and giving us this gift of music!

Thank you so much! Sounds like you have quite the musical family! I hope all goes well for the performances you are all involved with! 🙂

  7. Celia Roxburgh

Absolutely beautiful voice and accompaniment. On holiday in Florida from Scotland UK and came across this. Feel Blessed. Do you have any Christmas music for solo or group?

    • Sara Lyn Baril

Hi Celia, Thank you! I have a few selections of Christmas songs HERE.

If it’s for a Church performance, I would suggest “Holy One”, “It Is Jesus”, or “Was I There?”, “A Pure Heart”, “Light The World”. These are all vocal solos. I haven’t done group versions of these, although they have been sung as duets with individuals who can make up the harmony.

“Beyond Christmas” and “An Answer to Prayer” aren’t quite as reverent. “Road To Bethelehem” is nice too, although it portrays a fictional character, a shepherd, who makes his way to Bethlehem to see the Christ-child.

I LOVE this song and can’t get it out of my head! I tell everyone about it. Amazing song, and amazing voice! The sheet music is in a different key than the recording. Thank you for this beautiful piece!

    • Sara Lyn Baril

Thank you Brooke! Glad you’re enjoying it. Do you need it in a different key? I do have a higher version and a lower version, available upon request. 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing the song!!! I can’t wait to share the professional recording with you!
